Matcha has always been… green. That’s kind of its thing. The colour, the process, the identity, it’s all tied to that one shade.
So when you see blue or pink in the same space, it does make you pause for a second. Is this still matcha? Or are we just calling it that?
The honest answer is, not exactly. But also, not completely separate either. It’s less about copying matcha, and more about borrowing what people love about it. The ritual. The way you slow down to make it. The idea that a drink can feel like a moment, not just something you rush through.
That part stays. What changes is what goes into the cup.
The Blue Blend
The blue version is made from blue pea flower, blue spirulina, lemongrass powder, and a touch of vanilla bean.
It’s surprisingly light. The lemongrass gives it that clean, slightly citrusy feel, while the vanilla softens everything so it doesn’t feel sharp. The colour is bold, but the experience isn’t, it’s actually quite calm, almost cooling in a way.
It’s the kind of drink you don’t overthink. You just sip it, and it does its thing.
The Pink Blend
The pink leans a little warmer, a little more familiar.
With strawberry, beetroot, rose, and dragon fruit, it has a gentle sweetness to it, not sugary, just naturally soft. The beetroot gives it depth, the rose adds a quiet floral note, and the dragon fruit keeps it feeling fresh.
It’s comforting without being heavy. Something you’d reach for when you want to slow down a bit, not necessarily wake yourself up.
And that’s probably the biggest difference.
There’s no caffeine here. No sharp boost, no “get things done” energy. It’s a different kind of rhythm altogether. You’re not drinking this to power through your day.
You’re drinking it to pause in it. So why still call it matcha?
Mostly because of how it’s made, and how it feels. You still whisk it. You still take that moment before the first sip. There’s still intention behind it. It’s not traditional matcha, and it’s not trying to be.
It just sits somewhere in between. A little familiar, a little new.
And honestly, that’s what makes it interesting!!
